We have served in Cuba since 1996, after receiving a call from God during a missions conference at a Baptist church in Tampa, Fl., Brother Hampton had pastored three successful churches and was being used of God as an evangelist in the southeast. God clearly spoke to them about going to the Caribbean and in a few months specified it to be Cuba. Bro. Hampton traveled by himself the first trip in November 1996 and they began as a family in January of 1997. They first went by boat, but presently have a home in Havana, traveling back and forth by plane.
BROTHER HAMPTON'S TESTIMONY
Bro. Hampton was born on a plantation in Branford, Fl. and was raised by an loving unchurched family. While they never went to church, they were taught how to live morally correct and be good americans. He finished school and served seven years in the U.S. army. He began to visit an independent baptist church, primarily to get involved with girls, and had no interest in the messages or the Bible. On a Wednesday night August 19,1964 the Holy Spirit spoke to his heart. He went home still prodded by the Spirit and at 3:00am he confessed his sin and accepted Christ. He was baptized by Pastor Gerald Suggs, in Macclenny, Fl. at Faith Baptist Church. He moved to Bartow, Fl. and joined the independent baptist church there, soon becoming song leader, youth leader and visitation leader. He surrendered to preach in April 1966 and began college that June. By September he was street preaching, winning souls and working with churches in those cities. He accepted his first church in Feb. 1969 in DeFuniack Springs, Fl. and experienced a good growth, moving on to pastor two other strong churches. In September 1972 he accepted Heritage Baptist Temple in Great Bend, Kansas. While there, the church grew from the 80's to an average of over 400. In 1982 he began evangelistic work in the southeast, where he served until surrendering to go to Cuba. While in Cuba the past 13 years, they have organized over twenty churches and seen hundreds trust Christ and be baptized. Most of the cuban churches have pastors at this time. Brother Hampton presently holds revivals among the churches, trains pastors, and helps with financial needs in Cuba. Brother Hampton pays the pastors $20.00 per month, buys doors, windows, building materials and other supplies.
There is a great need in Cuba, especially financially, thus we seek to gain help from those who have a heart for missions. If you would like to help the churches in Cuba by a financial donation please feel free to contact us. We can forward back a non-profit recipt for tax credits. You can have a part in the great work that is being done for Christ in Cuba.
SISTER JUDY'S TESTIMONY
Sister Judy was born in Waco, Tx where she lived for 9 years before moving to Arizona. Judy's father was in the Air Force and her mother a full time homemaker. While going to church was not a standard event, her parents and 3 sisters had a good homelife. At the age of 12 a friend invited her to go to church at the local Southern Baptist church. After just a few weeks Judy told her Sunday School teacher she wanted to be saved. She was then baptized and enjoyed the youth church activities. It wasn't long till friendships changed and Judy quit going to church. After moving several times in her adult life, she started attending an independant Baptist church and after the birth of her child Judy realized she had not really been saved because she had never really put Christ as Lord of her life. Judy then confessed her sin and put Christ first in her life. Judy sang in the choir, was captain of a bus and taught Sunday School children of all ages. She began teaching pre-school at the church school and became the pre-school director. During the missions conference in 1994 at a baptist church Judy felt the call of the Holy Spirit to do more for missions than just giving money. Being a faithful wife and help meet she began to pray that her husband would also receive the call to the mission field. It wasn't until the next missions conference in 1995 that that call was heard by B.J. When B.J. told Judy that he felt called to the mission field she rejoiced and told him she had been praying for a year for him. On Judy's first trip to Cuba her eyes were opened to a life that didn't seem possible in the 20th century. No running hot water, no air conditioning, no Wal-Mart, and yet the people were happy and eager to learn and hear about Jesus Christ. With each trip to Cuba it was exciting to bring some of life's treasures to the Cuban people. Things like bandaids, aspirin, toothbrushes, combs, socks and many other everyday items. I am glad to be a part of something God has directed each of us to do, tell others of His love and care and mercy!
